1Common questions

How do I invite family members?

Open the property, tap Family, and tap Invite. Enter their email address and we'll send them an invite. They join with one tap — no approval needed. Every family member of a property is equal: anyone can manage invitations, billing, and content. There is no owner or admin tier.

How do I request dates for a stay?

Go to Calendar and tap the dates you'd like. Your request goes to the family members of that property, and everyone sees the same calendar — so there's no chasing people in a group chat. Confirmed stays can be added to your own iPhone calendar automatically.

How does splitting expenses work?

Add an expense, choose who paid and how it's split (even, by share, or custom), and CottageSync tracks who owes what. When you're ready, tap Settle to record a payment. At the end of the year, export everything for your records or your accountant.

What is the Guest Hub?

The Guest Hub is a public page you can publish for your property — with the Wi-Fi password, house notes, emergency contacts, and nearby places. Anyone with the link can read it; it never shows expenses, the calendar, or the Logbook. Unpublishing stops the link immediately. The Offline Guest Card can be saved to a phone and works without service.

What happens when my subscription ends?

A cottage needs a subscription to send invitations and to publish its Guest Hub page; everything else works without one. It is sold through the App Store — one cottage, billed yearly, renewing automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in your Apple ID subscription settings. Apple may offer a free first month to customers who have not subscribed before; the App Store decides that at the moment of purchase, and the app tells you which applies before you buy.

When a cottage's access ends it becomes read-only: you can still see everything, but not add or change it. The public Guest Hub page and the Offline Guest Card keep working — guest safety information should not depend on a renewal date.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings › Account › Delete account. Any property where you are the only family member is deleted with it, along with its data. Properties you share stay with the others and you are simply removed. You can also request deletion by emailing us at support@cottagesync.ca.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Settings › Privacy & Data › Download my data builds a file of everything your account can see and hands it to the share sheet. Other family members' email addresses and phone numbers are left out.
